#IWILL

Alhamdullilah.
Alhamdullilah.
Alhamdullilah.
I keep telling myself to be grateful for all the good things that have came since I won. It feels like the SEA Games was just last month but it has been 6 months now and a year to the next one.
Under Armour Singapore has made me their ambassador which is so awesome because it’s Under Armour. Haha! I’ve received some UA training gear which are so comfortable to wear I LOVE THEM yay! The other Singaporean athletes who are being sponsored are the Singapore Men’s Rugby team and MMA Fighter, Royston Wee. Met them at the Launch Party at the newly opened store (which I later found out that it’s South-East Asia’s first store!) You can visit the shop which is located at the basement of Orchard Gateway 🙂
The Supplment Shop is also sponsoring me on safe and beneficial supplements to aid in my training (especially my recovery).
It’s been hard trying to get monetary sponsorship these days but having sponsored products seem like a good deal for me right now. InsyaAllah, things will get better in the next few months to come. Like how I waited 10 years for my first sponsorship deal, I don’t know if I’m gonna have to wait another 10 to be fully paid to row (which by then I will probably be lifting children instead of weights) but I really hope that companies jump in quick to help boost the sporting hub-iness of Singapore.
On the brighter side of things, I’ve signed a contract with an athletes’ management company, which I will officially announce soon. I am hoping that this will give light to Singapore’s local athletes.
My coach often reminds me of how I should not get sucked into these things because when I start to underperform, things will not be so bright and cheery as they seem now. You know sometimes you feel that the best way to learn is to make mistakes?
I DONT WANT TO MAKE THIS MISTAKE.
So, that’s why I’m escaping the buzz (again) and heat (it was 38 degrees in Singapore one night before I left) and bought a one-way ticket as fast as I could to Sydney.
I’m back here, in the Winter season, where morning rows seem hellish when the wind blows and your lips start to crack and your throat goes dry and you remember ITS THE FASTING MONTH but hey, you gotta be stronger than your excuses so you tell yourself to shut up and train.

Three months to the Asian Games. Three months to become who I’m meant to be.
